Beasts
Read Daniel 7.1-6
“.. there before me were the four winds of heaven churning up the great sea ..” (Dan.7.2)
History isn’t random. The rise of successive empires is occasioned by the Spirit of God (the 4 winds of heaven) to show how humanity has been reduced by sin (like Nebuchadnezzar – Dan.4) to the level of the beasts and lives by the law of the jungle.
The close parallel with Dan.2 makes it clear that the reference here is to 4 ‘empires’ or kingdoms: why do you think they’re depicted as ‘beasts’?
What is the distinctive characteristic of each of the 4 beasts?
