Repentance
Read Daniel 9.9-14
“.. ‘All this disaster has come on us, yet we have not sought the favour of the LORD our God by turning from our sins and giving attention to Your truth ..’” (Dan.9.13)
The righteousness of God is matched by the mercy of God, and the bridge between the two finds expression in our repentance: for in such penitent turning from our sin and attending to God’s truth we honour His righteousness and find His mercy.
Forgiveness is neither ‘earned’, nor automatic: why is repentance, therefore, so necessary, and what does repentance involve?
As you read these verses, are you aware of sin or sins of which you need to repent today? What steps should you take?
Prayer: You have said that if we will confess our sin, You will forgive us. Lord, I’ve made bad choices and sinned against You: I turn my back on sin – teach me now Your way.
