The message of the angel to the aged priest Zechariah puts the thing in a nutshell: God’s purpose in the coming of Jesus, heralded by John the Baptist, narrated by Luke the doctor, was to bring many back to the Lord their God. A word in season for you?

Prayer: In the busy-ness of this Christmas week, O Lord, open my eyes afresh to the sheer mystery and wonder of Your so boldly and graciously coming among us.
