Read Daniel 8.15-18
“.. ‘Son of man,’ he said to me, ’understand that the vision concerns the time of the end ..” (Dan.8.17)
The only other time the Bible refers specifically to the angel Gabriel is significantly in relation to the birth of Jesus (Lk.1.19 & Lk.1.26): ‘the horn of salvation’ referred to by Zechariah in his song, is God’s answer to the defiance of the ‘little horn’ here.
The God-ordained exposition of His Word has this effect – it raises God’s people to their feet: what has been your experience of that?
What comfort and encouragement is there in the assurance that ‘the time of the end’ is very much in the Lord’s hands?
Prayer: Help those, Lord, whom You have sent to teach Your Word as they prepare for this coming Sunday’s ministry: use them to set Your people on their feet again.
