Saturday 3 April

Read Luke 19.37-40

“When He came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen.” (Lk.19.37)

Back to Palm Sunday! The crowds remembered the miracles they’d seen, all of them pointers to God’s saving work in Jesus: that joy of the disciples would have turned to great sorrow on the following sabbath as they mourned their crucified Master.

In what ways has God worked mightily in your life?

How do you cope when a time of great joy is followed by sudden, unexpected sorrow?

Prayer: Comfort those who mourn, Lord, according to the promise of Your Word: may those experiencing the maelstrom of grief know Your presence and Your care.
