Steady
Read Daniel 8.26-27
“.. Then I got up and went about the king’s business ..” (Dan.8.27)
The vision and message given to Daniel left him exhausted, unwell, appalled and perplexed: but it was important truth which would fortify the spirits of believers for the facing of trials which were still at this point far in the future.
The atrocities of which we read today are, as we say, ‘beyond comprehension’: how does a chapter such as this steady your heart in the midst of the storms?
Today you celebrate Christ’s victory again: what will it mean for you now to ‘get up’ from your worship and ‘go about the king’s business’?
Prayer: Thanks be to You, my Lord, that You give to Your people the victory which You’ve already secured. Help me to remain steadfast, always abounding in Your work.
